It is hard to stay healthy while on vacation. Is it possible, yes, but like I said, it’s tough. Hotels don’t really cater to those living a healthier lifestyle because it costs more to maintain a nice gym and have decent eats. Restaurant’s are the same way in resort towns. It’s almost like it is a given, go on vacation and unwind -> pack on the pounds. Not cool, not cool at all.
How do you stay healthy and fit while on vacation? Well I’m glad you asked. Here are 5 simple steps to help you prevent from totally slacking while you’re enjoying your time off.
1. Upgrade- Get a room with a kitchen so you can cook your own meals, you can still go out each day but this way you’ll still be able to stick to your diet.
2. Plan Ahead- Make a schedule and keep to it, act as if you’re at home almost and just keep to your normal routine…easier said than done.
3. Avoid Dessert- “I’m on vacation, this one dessert won’t hurt.” It will and you know it will, try to avoid the sweets.
4. Work Out- Try to find a hotel that has a good gym either inside of it or one that is close to an actual gym. Day passes for gyms usually run between $10-$20. If you want to avoid the gym during your time off then do some body weight exercises in the room like pushups, squats and situps. Running around your location is a great exercise and also a really cool way to familiarize yourself with where you’re at.
5. Avoid The Munchies- A lot of times when people indulge it’s because they’ve had a few drinks. Anything you eat is going to be good, so stick with the healthy stuff.
Vacations should be fun so don’t go overboard with your diet, but at the same time try to stick to your plan because it all adds up in the end. Thanks for your time and let’s work together soon to get you where you want to be.
